Thank-you letter from Seneca Falls Humane Society.

I want you and your readers to know is what we saw in
New Orleans!! I felt like I was back in Africa or Bosnia -
where there is little concern for life, human, feline,
canine, any kind of life. The vulnerable- the old, the poor,
and pets left behind often because their people were
promised they'd be cared for - were left injured, dying in
their homes and on the street.

Subject: Foster a dog NOW for your local Humane Society
Since "Katrina Dogs" have been moved to other  HSUS shelters, they will have to make room for them.
Please go to your local shelter today and offer to foster one of their dogs - it will save a life - and help to make room for these Katrina dogs that are coming in.
In essence, it is the same as fostering a Katrina dog.
All the shelters are going to feel the Katrina impact, so save a Katrina dog there in your home town.

The Snowball angle softened the official ''leave all pets behind" evacuation policy. Displaced people leaving New Orleans have been allowed to travel out with four-legged companions. Some of the evacuees who landed on Cape Cod arrived with their critters -- ''including several mutts, a Pomeranian, and a cocker spaniel," according to the Globe.

Darren Williams is an other dog fighter whose case is languishing in the prosecutor's files in Acadia Parish who coincidentally is being prosecuted by the same prosecutor as Floyd Boudreaux. He also handles Acadia parish

this is a write up about his case

Darren Williams is mentioned this the below listed article, I quote:

And in back-to-back raids last week, the State Police and SPCA took out an alleged Church Point dogfighter and his kennel of 43 pit bulls Wednesday, before storming a Franklinton compound known as Dirty South Kennels on Thursday, arresting owner Darren Williams and seizing 134 pit bulls. The value of one of the dogs, an alleged grand champion named Coachise, was pegged by the SPCA at $60,000.

In a guard room next to Williams' main kennel, police found pictures of other "champion" pit bulls, animal medicines, leashes, belts, a refrigerator full of Budweiser beer and, lying in the middle of a bed, a framed photograph of Williams and Floyd Boudreaux.

The same DA needs to be reminded to prosecute this wonderful person.

By the way the 177 dogs seized in this raid were euthanized when asked, the LA SPCA gave a very compelling reason for their actions:

http://www.la-spca.org/pre-katrina/prevention/faq_fighting.htm see the link for full response.

I quote:

" On May 25 and 26, 2005, the LA/SPCA impounded 177 fighting dogs. If we housed these animals until the court date, more than 6,000 animals would be euthanized over a year’s time to make space for the 177 dogs. We don’t believe it’s reasonable to euthanize 6,000 animals to temporarily save 177 that will likely be euthanized by court order at the end of the case. We wasted 6,000 lives that may otherwise have found wonderful homes."

This is a horrible and depressing fact. The SPCA is not the villain in this case but rather the dog fighters are the problem. The SPCA is limited by space, money and resources and is also the prime mover behind these criminal actions. The SPCA is limited in what they can do.I would also point out that if not for SPCA these cases would not have been prosecuted in the first place and we would be ignorant of this horrible underground and illegal activity.
